Trim the first 3 frames

Post by Steve »

I am editing a high school reunion that i filmed with a Canon XHA1 camcorder and loading into a S6000. When I auto split there is 160 frames
and each scene has as the first three (3) frames the last three (3) frames of the last scene. I know I can trim the scenes individually but is there any way to
trim them as a batch. I am about to wear out the trackball an my arm.

I think you have a setting in the setup section to trim the in and out of clips. I think you can do this before you split the clip.

In Settings, Rec/Playback you can adjust how much is 'cut' off each clip using AVCHD Shorten In and AVCHD Shorten Out.

You will need to re-record the film if you want to apply "effect" this to the footage.

Since you are using the CANON XHA-1, the setting for AVCHD will not work. The Canon always had a sloppy timecode when it came to auto-split. Even playback is an issue for SMART EDIT and the FIELDS have to be adjusted in the main system setting.

ALSO: The XHA-1 is HDV and 1440 file size plus tape importation.

There is no method I am aware that will "batch shorten" each clip by 3 frames because all your clips are not going to be of equal length.

There is the TRIM method to make EVERY clip the same length which are good for photo's that are imported via the POWERKEY method but this will be of not help to you.

Ooops - the AVCHD is for 'chip' HD camera's and not tape ones - thanks Lou.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't think there was a way to trim just the first three frames, but If it could be done
someone on the forum would know how to do it.
