Are they really from only $25 on the web out there ?

Over here (UK) they are not only few and far between but the price is rising averaging about £90 new :(

No, name brand ones go for around $75, you can get no name ones and refurbished ones from $45-$50, but I personally wouldn't trust such. You can get used ones on ebay cheaper, but again...

Am I looking at the right product?

(Not that it matters, I've got the drive from MS on the way.)

But it looks as though there are in fact generic drives, new, on eBay from $25 and up.

You are buying trouble if you buy no name hard drives, regardless of price, John.
