Putting a stop watch layer over the footage

Hello! I have a client who wants to add a stopwatch like effect over the footage. It's a sports video and he want to be able to time players running, throwing, etc. and for the viewer to be able to see the time it takes. I've thought of using the timecode overlay in Finish window but that will be quite time consuming. I've also considered using the PIP effect of an actual stopwatch. Any other suggestions????

Hi Chris,

if you insert the timecode it would take extra time calculation to see the real time of the event
I would not do that.
But PIP insertion of a stopwatch will solve the problem effective.

You could make a scene of a time code only to the longest expected time. Then copy and trim each copy to the required time and put it in the scene with PIP. If you split the original scene to the part that you want to overlay the PIP, the split scene will give you the exact time for the timecode PIP.

A little extra feature would be to make a 2 second ? still of the last frame of the overlayed scene and add it to the end of the live action to create a freeze frame effect. Once you get it set up, it should go pretty fast.
