PC based

Post by flvideo »

I read in the Email news letter I get about a pc based editor in the works. Has anyone heard any more about that? My Rennee is getting old and I don't have the money to replace it so the pc base is of great interest to me.

There's a Windows 7 & up based version of Bogart (in three different flavours / flavors) due relatively soon . . . no real details as yet.

Well, the Windows based Bogart version has been released today (in Germany).

http://www.macrosystem.de/de_de/news/ne ... egbar.html

We will see how that turns out...

Please keep in mind that most of the interesting add-on software packages won't work with the Windows Bogart software....

Hey VOLKER !! a simple question here for you if you had any information !

Ok lets say I get de BOGART for windows 7 with the faster laptop in the market, comparing
to my S-6000(2 years old),who will run BETTER,the laptop or my s-6000 ? I am a little confuse
now because any simple laptop (US 1000) comes with i7 processor and many news things
that will make it FASTER,then my s-6000,so any advance to get a new KARAT(US3500) with the old
i3 processor? JUST in case Bogart for windows cost maybe US500 plus a US1,500 computer,we are
talking a US1,500 different comparing KARAT,do I am missing SOMETHING?... :(

Thanks..franklin

Ah . . . the $64,000 question :D

In the past the PC operating system used to take up a lot of the system resources and so direct comparisons of speed etc were not really directly calculable or accurate where Smart Edit was only a fraction in size and memory usage.

However as 'we' now use Bogart with it's Linux base I don't know how the two would stack up :?:

Hello,
I have not "played" or worked with Bogart on Windows yet.
Please keep in mind that most of the software add-ons that you are used to work with are not available for Windows.
For example there is no QuadCam (yet) and no Akaba, you name it.

Hey Volker,in Bogart my only transition thad I use are Crosfade, fade out and simple cuts,in fx windows
I use color correction,image control,effects stack,twixtor,and the filters pack,so I don't need more then
those options, but my point here is,power full Laptop vs Karat,I am not a expert in technology but one
of my employer is a computer genius,he is very IMPRESS with the construction of my S-6000,but he is
Surprise that a EXPENSIVE EDITOR in 2013 are still using i3 and not i5 or i7 another surprise is that there is
no option to ad more memory, when he saw the price he face was :o ,here a powerfully laptop will
cost US 989 with,8 gb of memory 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7,turbo boost up to 3.6 ghz,1TB hard drive.

So where is the TO GO TO BE TRUE ? pay a full KARAT,pay a full Laptop or Desk top?..

Thanks for your time....Franklin.... :D

Hang in there. It looks like a great idea, especially on a laptop. However, I would not download the PAL version as it is a different standard for playback thus not a true representation of the NTSC standard.

Franklin: your specs look good for any editing system. I guess it should work well. Only time will tell. It is my understanding it is in testing in the USA.

I am willing to wait for this exciting release.

Imagine, using your laptop while on vacation and uploading your travel videos from your hotel room.

Imagine, you are a wedding videographer and you can now offer a same day edit to be played at the reception via a HDMI cable from your laptop to a widescreen.
