Corrupt Storyboard
Hi all
Anyone else have these issues?
WIth both my old S4000 and new Karat I have this issue. What happens is a scene in the soryboard (I think) becomes corrupt. I think this b/c when you try to play it, it hits a point where it simply stops. If you view the scene in the scene bin and slowly scroll thru the footage, you come across a point in the clip where it simply stops. It may start again, sometimes not. Ocassionally, it may contain footage that is not even related to that clip! It either replaces it with footage that is in another clip in that project or in an entirely different project. Ridiculous. The hard drive is only ~ 25% full.
Has anyone else had any issues like this? They are absolute backbreakers because they seem to come on without warning and unless I already archived the footage, Im screwed. Recently, storyboard clips from a project I wasnt even working on becoming corrupted in spots as previosuly described and it was perfectly fine the last time I worked on it. I just dont understand. I cant believe its something I'm doing wrong that's causing it but who knows? I typically upload HD footage from tape, manipulate it, edit etc. I also import via ksebara and/or the record window as Lou Bruno recently advised. But these issues (I think) have happened independent of DVD uploads as well.
I really would like to understand it and I hope the answer isnt just "back up your work because *** happens". While I understand this advice and AGREE, there also HAS to be an explanation for something like this. If not, it seems these editors would be virtually unusable because the reliability would be nil. Very much hoping someone can shed light on this.
Hope everyone has a great holiday and MErry Christmas.

Re: Corrupt Storyboard
This has not happened once to me since Bogart 3.2c....I would occasionally get a corrupt clip. It usually will give a totally green thumbnail too....I am on Bogart 5.5c & nothing like that since....I always perform a FULL install on any new OS. Also, I am still in the habit of closing out my edit session for the day on an empty project...not required, but I still do it. In addition, after deleting even one clip, I then go to an empty project and back...this minimized the "ghost Clip" issues back then....

I'd put money on this problem happening 'after' your machine has either crashed or shut down unexpectedly! I used to get this happening every-so-often and it is the most annoying thing. The easiest remedy is to simply replace the corrupted scene with an exact copy.
And while I'm here...A Happy New Year to all, hope next year is a good one for you.
