I don’t (touch wood) seem to have problems with corrupt scenes with my S6K, but have had the occasional crash during certain complicated editing sequences. BB World, PIP Studio and especially Columbus, can if rapid commands are applied (more haste less speed), cause the system to freeze / crash. Usually all the recent editing has gone when using the reset to reboot the unit.
Like Joel, I have got into the habit of frequently copying my current project to another empty project. Although not technically a failsafe backup, since it is on the same HDD, it can be useful to use as a temporary save and restore point in the event of problems or corruption occurring later in the editing process. After completing any complicated process or every 15min or so of editing, I do the following. The good thing about this technique, unlike a full backup, it only takes a minute or so to complete and can save a lot of time and anguish.
1. Select the “Project settings” page
2. Under “Project” click “Select” ensure the project required for copy is selected.
3. Under “Project” click “Copy” which brings up a box asking what should be copied, tick all boxes if the story board, scene bin and audio samples are to be copied. Then click “OK”
4. A window opens showing all the project environments that are unused, select one and click “OK”.
An exact copy of the original project will be placed in that project environment and either the original or the copy can be used to continue editing.

Re: Corrupt Storyboard
Yeah, it is a frustrating situation. I have seen it "bleed" into other projects as well, so while the copy to another project idea seems sound, I have had many issues with that as well. Typically I do this anyway as I break out into severla different projects in order to "see" all the elemnts I am dealing with easier. Then, when done with each, use clipboard to reconnect in a new project. Although I may have to abandon this process as well b/c I also think may of the problems seem to arise when I use Clipboard. Very strange and hard to put your finger on b/c there's so much going on with editying and so many moves are made so fast as you all know. I think there is also likely some truth in the more complicated the edits are and the faster they are executed usually leads to trouble or crashes. But you arent cognizant of that while you're working. Seems like the best solution is the HDD backup and hope to heck a non-corrupt version exists on it if and (likely) when a problem happens on the current storyboard. My experience is also that when a corrupt scene/situation is noted the WHOLE THING goes south fast. Meaning the problem seems to replicate everywhere within storyboard. And then the same problem seems to instantly happen in other projects even though they have not been accessed in awhile and the last time they were everything was A-OK. Maddening. Oddly though, if there is a project that is unaffected it seems to always be the source project- meaning the one where all the footage was originally uploaded before being 'farmed out' to work on in other projects. Sigh.

Re: Corrupt Storyboard
Well me and my big mouth have really tempted fate this time. Having said I have not seen this problem, well guess what, you got it, a nightmare.
Almost to the end of a completing a project, I did my usual copy project, but upon opening the copy, most of the clips were green stamps and would not play. Back in the real project, everything looked normal, but the story board would not play and most of the scenes in the scene bin were also green. Trying to play them resulted in it going through the full scene as though playing, but just a blank screen. Not sure if the copy project was the culprit, but I don’t see how. I have tried a number of other things, but nothing so far will correct the problem. Since I have used quite a number of programs, (BB World, PIP Studio, Photo Studio, Columbus and some others) I cannot begin to say what may have caused the problem. Also as previously said, playback will sometimes result in a completely different scene playing.
Unfortunately, I have not done a full backup since the start of this project. Will I never learn?
Fortunately, I always save the raw footage to a separate HDD and this has reloaded no problem into a new project. I can clipboard a scene from the raw footage to the corrupted project and it plays just fine.
I have decided to restart over again. The one good thing is, in the corrupt project I can go through the story board, use “find” to locate the scene in the scene bin, and although there is no picture, going into trim, I can still see the scene trim in/out times. I have gone through the full storyboard, noted all the trim times, which will save me a lot of time when re-editing.
Not really a help, but you are not alone. Sigh also.

Re: Corrupt Storyboard
Just to clarify something, when I said I make frequent project copies, I was not referring to the clip board, but copy the whole or selected parts of a project to another project as follows.
This enables all or part of the contents of one project to be copied to another project on the same HDD. Although not technically a failsafe backup, since it is on the same HDD, it can be useful to use as a temporary save and restore point in the event of problems or corruption occurring later in the editing process.
5. An exact copy of the original project will be placed in that project environment and either the original or the copy can be used to continue editing. Name this project as appropriate.
It is the first time and hopefully the last that I have had aforementioned issue and has on a number of occasions saved me from losing work when the system has locked up or crashed.

Re: Corrupt Storyboard
I have a suspicion as to why my project became corrupted. Unfortunately it is difficult to replicate without losing my re-edit again.
In the edit screen I made a couple of black scenes, used special effects “Power off” on one of the scenes and then put the power off scene and the other black scene in the storyboard. I then added some voice over and eventually made a “scene” of both scenes, including the added audio.
I then added this new combined scene in the story board, in front of the two original scenes and proceeded to remove the two original scenes. As part of this removal process, the system advised that this would delete some of the added audio, did I want to continue and I clicked yes.
On re-entering the audio mix screen, the new combined scene had all the audio embedded, but still had a very slim line in the additional audio track, even though it told me this would be deleted.
This again happened on the second edit so I clicked “cancel” when it advised I would lose the audio. I went back to the audio mix, before adding the new combined scene, removed all of audio from the original scenes, then removed all the original scenes from the storyboard and finally added the new combined scene to the storyboard. So far touch wood, there is no corruption.
I know this sounds complicated, but it is a process I have used many times in the past. Somehow by letting the system remove added audio, when removing scenes from the storyboard, instead of doing it manually, this may have caused the corruption issue????

Re: Corrupt Storyboard
It is absurd, isn't it? The process of editing is involved and laborsome enough w/o having to worry about this happening. As you indicated, its difficult to pin down what exactly the culprit is; I suspect Clipboard myself, I always seem to have weird things crop up with it, but who knows. I now back up frequently but that isnt foolproof either b/c if you dont catch the problem and its there and back THAt up then you are still screwed. And that moment when the storyboard inexplicably stops is the WORST isnt it? Panic mode...
