How easy is it to change the firewire socket on a Kron, myself.Is there anything on youtube.

Unless you're electronically inclined, I wouldn't suggest it. The Kron is now old(er) technology, replacement parts are scarce if available at all. Have you considered upgrading to a newer unit, or B4W? Sounds like it's time to make a decision.
