The 4:3, 16:9 settings effect added effects such as graphics proporations so what you put in is what will come out regarding the raw footage.

At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Tim,

So basically you are say that if I capture the photos with a 16:9 camera like a HHD camera, capture/record the photos into the Avio using the 16:9 setting, edit, and make a photo montage then output to tape that it will come out as 16:9.

Yep, but more than that I am saying if you input 16:9 footage and did not use any geometric shaped transitions, etc it would output the 16:9 footage end Project properly even if put into a 4:3 Project setting.

I have not actually tested it (as why would someone do that on purpose, LOL), but that is my understanding that it just affects the affects proportions, not the actual footage.

In other words, if you used the transition Circle with 16:9 footage in a 4:3 Project setting you would get a distorted circle transition, but the footage itself would remain true 16:9 during the edit and the output.

Basically, you would have to use the Cineconverter software in Special on the footage or as an IP Effect to actually screw up the footage itself.
