SE 8 and Solitaire

If you are still having problems and you do have an SM card with any o's on it then I would install from that, then update to SE8 from there. There is some confusion over Solitaire models and which CD to use. In the UK we have two o/s disks. One contains o/s's for Avio, Kron, Prestige and (original) Solitaire, and is used from the Install Products menu. The other is a boot disk for Claro, Gymnos,Renommee, Renommee plus and Solitaire plus (last or upgraded model). This must be used as a boot disk with the machine turned off. (Disks may differ in the US).

I think the confusion is because for all other models, I repeat, for all other models, you must use a specific CD or you will damage your unit.

For the Avio, Kron, Prestige, you must use a Product CD, using a Boot CD will damage these units.

For the Solitaire Plus, Claro, Gymnos, Renommee and Renommee Plus, you must use a Boot CD, using a Product CD will damage these units.

The Solitaire and only the Solitaire (this does not count for the Solitaire Plus which must use only the Boot CD) is unique here in that it can use either.

I can not stress enough, use the right type of OS CD with your unit.

Yes, I remember reading that was a serious issue in using the wrong OS disk. That is why I asked about it to make sure. I was able to use the SE 7 Boot disk on my Solitaire and realoded SE 7 and I can boot my Solitaire normally. I tried to load SE 8 on another hard drive and the same result on rebooting. It freezes on the Casablanca Solitaire screen.

I will wait until I can get a SE 8 Boot disk and go from there.

Yes it is good to hear, Tim. I had some projects that I did not want to loose. I do have most of them backed up, but this avoided having to re-enter all of them.
