Media Manager

Post by Alan »

S4000pro with SE2 and Media manager.

To my amazment I've just managed to network the S4000 to my other computer via the ethernet ports. To my astonishment it worked and begant to play the sampe music files included in Windows XP.

I'm not Quite sure what I have done. Firs the S4000 was looking for Samba shares. Browsing the net suggested that this programme which is used to link windows to linux applications was probably built int the S4000. It is! I dug out my son's ethernet cables and black box and linked them up. Then I used the connection wizard in XP, upon opening the media manager and pressing the network button the sample sound files played on the S4000.

Since then I've found that you need to allow other files to be shared from the file and folder task menu. The media manager recognises these but so far I have not managed to get any video files to play that I had loaded to the computer from my camera.

I've also managed to get the files recorded on my back up external drive to play through the manager and I think I have managed to transfer HD files to the archive section of the S4000 so I should be able to re-edit them.

How are you getting on with media manager?

Cheers Alan Moore

In the last few moments I've managed to transfer my previously recorded video on the computer into a project in the S4000. It came in via the archive section. Again I'm not sure what I've done, but the files I can find include the printer! Any way its great that it all seems to work.

Eric,

By Alan's ending salutation of "Cheers" I'd guess he was from merry ole England.

As the software is initially written in the PAL format which they use they always get the new software before we do.

Media Manager is supposed to come with Bogart SE2 which will be released in the USA just as soon as the NTSC version passes it's beta testing.

I got to see it in action last year at the March Get Together when Jörg premiered it.

Looking forward to the flexibility it will give us.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

As Tim mentioned, the Media Manager functions are not yet available in NTSC... these great new capabilities will be provided to our customers with the release of Bogart SE OS2 - which remains in testing. We are hoping for a release soon as there are some great new benefits that S-4000/S-4000 PRO customers will enjoy in both the editing side (the equivalent of Smart Edit 8) as well as the new Archives/Media Manager.

I am happily demonstrating these software capabilities today in Boston and tomorrow in Secaucus, NJ. (while I am mentioning my travels, I will also be in Fort Wayne, Indiana next Wednesday and Cleveland next Thursday!).

You can read more about these opportunities to experienced the latest in Casablanca on the web here:

Guys, I'm jazzed about this!

Since much of my work goes to the Internet, this will be a big help.

Right now, my s4000pro is fairly vanilla. I want to use PS2 on that machine, which isn't available yet, and I've heard that the new Bogart will have better audio options also.

Any word when we can expect the new editing system and PS2? I know I keep pushing for it, and it sounds like it is getting closer and closer.
