System Crash!

Post by roncamp »

Turned my Solitaire on today and I am not getting any RGB output to the monitor. Checked the monitor with another device to confirm that the monitor works. Also cycled the system on and off a couple of times.

Help!

This is a PRIOR posting I saved from LEN which worked for me when my Solitaire Plus had the same problem. it worked for me in SE 7:

Here's the procedure I got from Bruce regarding rebooting my Renommee Plus:

1. Make sure there is no disc in your DVD burner.

2. Have the unit connected to both a VGA and regular video monitor, and have a keyboard and trackball connected.

3. Start the machine.

4. When you see the first activity on the VGA, press the Delete key on the keyboard.
This should take you to the Bios Setup Utility.

5. Right arrow across to the boot section and select Boot Device Priority.

6. Select 1st boot priority and press Enter.
Highlight the Pioneer burner and press Enter.

7. Select 2nd boot priority and press Enter.
Highlight Casablanca BEV and press Enter.

8. Select 3rd boot priority and press Enter.
Highlight ST300 (not sure of the complete number) and press Enter.

9. Select 4th boot priority and press Enter.
Highlight Disabled and press Enter.

10. Press F10 and then OK to save settings.

System shoud now reboot to main menu on the video screen. This may take about 60 seconds.

From there on you can go to System Settings to install your software from the "All Software CD".

Be careful, (this applies to Reno Plus or a Sol Plus owners), not to install Smart Edit 5.1c from the "All Software CD".

If you are adding new drives, be sure to use only the 5.1c Renommee boot disc.

Well the problem is that I am not seeing anything on the VGA monitor or the video monitor. At all.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I would try all of your video outputs. If you are normally connected to the S-vhs output try also checking out the vhs output as well as the outputs using the Scart adapter. You may have lost only one output. The other outputs may work. The fact that you also lost your VGA output doesn't look good. Have your tried a different video cable or used that cable to check out your monitor on the other system? You may have lost your video board. I'm not sure if the VGA output goes through it or not.

Yes, I have checked every available output against multiple cables and multiple monitors.

Ron,

Have you tried turning it on?

You can see otherwise though, right?

So we can eliminate that you have gone blind . . .

That pretty much narrows it down to hardware (video board) failure if all outputs are not working.

I had that happen years ago to my Avio.

I'd say you need to call tech support as hardware issues are beyond user idea help.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Already made the call. Looks like I'll be editing on a laptop with Roxio for awhile. What fun!
