I am burning with Nero Express, and I suspect that I have read enough to be brave and try this, and see what happens. Thanks for everybody's help!

Okay, Burned the disk, put in in the ren, shut it down, powered back up, and no signal is on the monitor after nearly 10 minutes of waiting. How long should this take?

It takes seconds to come up to a GUI screen with options.

Never came up! Asked the dealer, and he said just replace the v8 with the v7 software disk the machine came with, power down, restart with the v7 disk. That brought it all back, thankfully. Sure scared me for awhile. Cassis never came up with a screen with the new disk. Don't know why not, either. Don't have any info on what's new with v8 anyway, so stay with v7 till they have more info.
