Hi,
I hope that my feature gets into a film festival somewhere, and if that happens, I'll have to put the film on a Sony HD Tape.
I was talking with a representative of a big lab in Atlanta and he wondered how that could be done from the AVIO. I have both the AVIO and the S4000Pro. He had heard of Casablanca, but hadn't worked with it.
His knee jerk reaction was that going from DV to the HD tape and then projection might in the raw untreated state look rough. I've read this too. My film is out to several fests right now, and if I get into one, I'll need to move to Sony HD tape asap.
Also, since I'm cutting my next film on the S4000Pro, this issue is going to come up again (hopefully, I've got a future as a documentary filmmaker, ha!).
Any suggestions would be very helpful. And as always, I'm very interested in the next Bogart and compatibility with PS2. Finally, because I'm shooting on HDV now, I'll bet going to Sony HD Tape will be easier. If anyone wants an excellent SD package, I've got all my standard def stuff on the swap shop. Make me an offer!
Later...
