I run into that stuttering issue when I set my monitor to 1080i, but not at 720p and so use it that way and frankly I prefer the size of the Scene bin icons at 720p on the 32" HD monitor I use.

Why when you don't have any mal-functions in the DVI/HDMI setup do you want to display
in the S-Video mode?

Did you do a recent UPDATE? or a FULL INSTALL? Are you on 2.0? Did you load 1.3 and 2.0? Just wondering if it is a OS issue.

Hans, to fully answer the question, because the lcd and plasma tv's arn't overscaned like the tube tv's are you have to keep a VERY close eye on where you place text and effects like PIP, there are still VERY many tube tv's out there and if you go by the 4 by 3 aspect ratio using an lcd or plasma tv there's a good chance those effects will be cut off for all the tube tv owners. On one job I kind-of forgot the 80%-20% rule and when the customer complained I had to redo those parts. So by looping the S or composit video through a tube tv that has the "safe title" and "safe action" lines drawn on the screen I now know "EXACTLY" where those things can be placed and sleep soundly at night. Maybe there's some way to green screen those areas on when you need that kind of assurance? I wonder if I could use the new "effect stacking" to do this and when I get it just right remove that effect from the stack and rerender? I hate having those things even a little bit off, very unprofessional looking.

My technical knowledge in electronics is nill. I rely mainly on inherent common sense first, the internet (forums, google, etc), and if all else fails, the invaluable tech support. I am not positive if the S4KPro is Pal/NTSC switchable. Do you think it's set to PAL? If not, it could be a driver problem.....I think

HI, I have the same problem not being able to see the safe area. There is a safe area on my lcd tv which I use as a monitor. There is no safe area on my projector. I too had to redo a project. I now have to load the project to my computer to check. I tried to set up a tube tv to check this on Cassi but as we know there is no analogue output when using HDMI.

I would request Macrosystem to provide this function which I believe appears on all professional editors, would you agree?

No Eric, you can't switch between NTSC and PAL, it's one or the other.

Alan, I talked to Bruce at Macrosystem today and told him of our problem and made the suggestion of a "safe title" and "safe action" border for our systems and he thought it was a great idea and will bring it up to the powers that be. All the "big boys" have it so why not us.
