Zoom effect acting strange

This is for a UHD project at 4096 x 2160, in 19:10 aspect. I have a bunch of pics and video. The video is in 2:35 to one aspect ratio. I recently backed up the project and was pleased to see the pictures (Taken on a phone in widescreen) remained in 16x 9 while the video was in 21:9. I'm now trying to add some movement to the photos using the zoom effect. But instead of creating the zoom I get a black screen with the word "Photo" titled on the screen. I can also see this in the preview and if I just select "effect" on the full size version of the zoom. Yesterday When it happened I shut down Bogart and and re stared the computer. This seem to fix the problem. But today it's back and restarting doesn't work. What could be going on here?

When I actually render the scene, the zoom does seem to work. But the preview and using full size suggest otherwise. Also, Bogart crashed after I rendered the zoom and played it back.

Due to various possible photo aspects (like panorama pictures) the zoom effect of the video editing software can't make a moving or full-frame preview. But the FX rendering should work. The 4k digital cinema format 4096x2160 is not as much tested, because no TV has 4096 and will produce black bars there. Some FX won't support 4096 at all.

But I have just imported a 110 MPixel photo into a 4096x2160p30 project and rendered a zoom with moving IN+OUT and can't see any general problem.
