I do not get that one statement regarding how do you boot to an internal back up if you system won't boot up. The same way you boot to an external drive when the system won't boot up. You don't. ;>)
That said, there is certainly a use for external drives (very soon even more uses), but I just do not think protection from this "Restored from" issue on any machine that has the internal mirror drive backup option open to them.
