Don't ask me why, but for some reason its all behaving a bit better and showing me the downloaded files. Now I am getting a good idea of what to expect from these programs. Thanks!

Will be nice when the Xpress Map video clips are titled in English, but I get the idea as they are.

Hmmmm, looking at the demos makes me a little bleary eyed, and wondering what differences lie between some programs and others. Its not always obvious the strength of one for doing a particular task. Guess its like working in AutoCad- there are 5 ways for doing anything. The way you know you are getting somewhere with it is that you begin to tell why one way is better than another for a particular task.

Jim, all of the software can be put into one of several categories as shown here http://www.macrosystem.us/Software/Software.html
The chart gives you a basic idea of what category a program falls into, and if you click on a software title, you'll get a more detailed explanation of its use.

Chris,
That was a BIG help. Thanks so much, as it gives me an idea of what I need to work on learning early, and which can wait a bit.

Did ANYbody notice that in the explanation for Effect JIngles 3, the copy runs behind the demo board, so that half of the explanation cannot be read?

Yes Jim,
in audio expansions when highlighting -->Effect Jingles 1-3 most of the explanation text is
covered by screenshots.
Chet, maybe you have a look for correction?

What exactly is Video Spicerack? It seems to be a collection of masks, like some of the other collections, but I can't tell. The site says it is no longer available anyway. Was it folded into other software?

Video Spice Rack is a collection of masks/effects - the effects show up in the Transitions menu and they are also available as masks in the Image Pool. It is no longer available for new purchase due to licensing changes (however those with VSR- Video Spice Rack already licensed can continue to use it legally)

Ultimate Spice Rack is the newer program that provides what VSR did, but with even more masks. You can read about USB and see a screen shot here http://www.macrosystem.us/Software/Ulti ... e_Box.html

I have found the Image Pool and it's capabilities in many menu screens is often not clearly understood - so I have made this one of the topics in my February Webinar. This free event is scheduled for Thursday, Feb 26, 2009 from 9:00 AM - 10:00AM PST. You can read more about that online Casablanca training and register here https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/776086990

Hope that helps!

Chet
