Anyone using a Sony HVR-Z7U compact flash recording with the S4000?
If so...is it working and which CF card are you using?
Thanks...

Re: S4000 and sony HVR-Z7U compact flash?
I'm currently using the Z7/compact flash using the MRU via fire wire. It works great. I've not tried importing the data any other way yet. I'm using the supplied 8G flash card that came with the camera.

This is very good to know Chris! I just bought the FX1000 and it is pretty impressive. The compact flash is an option even with that camera. It is good to know that firewire works with that set up. The deal on the FX1000 is that Sony offers amazing financing. It was an easy choice for me.
As an aside, I would have likely bought the Z5U if it had been available. The Sony guy told me that I got the first FX1000 in Atlanta last month, but I think other folks have the camera around here.
Also, Chris, since we live in the same town, I sure want to have a coffee with you and compare notes. Naturally, I've been impressed by your work. I'm presenting a film screening on Friday in Newnan, will drop you an email with the details.
Finally, I was talking with Kenny yesterday at Showcase in Atlanta. The price of HD 3 CCD or CMOS cameras has really fallen. The Panasonic HMC150 is now around $3100.00. This is amazing, although I'm still not ready to give up tape. I wonder if it works with firewire transfer like the Sony?
I handled all the sub-5K cameras Kenny had yesterday, and the JVC 110 was extremely impressive. It is now selling for less than $4K! Although it is 720p, it is the most professional looking camera of the sub-5K or sub-4K cameras I looked at. Darned thing was fully manual (with tactile controls), and looked like you could produce an amazing image. Audio controls were very fine as well. It is a tape camera, and I like that too.
