I am sure I learned this at one of the Cassie U's but I am having brain freeze. I want to take a scene [1 min. digital hotcakes] and then place 5 scenes over the top of that. Each scene is a static graphic but I want them to come in one at a time with the last part where I can see all 5 scenes. Bluebox? PIP? What do I use. I have the DVD tutorial so point me to the right application.

So to sum up, I have a minute scene in which I want to bring in 5 separate scenes over that, one at a time until all 5 are on the screen. HELP!

You need PIP Studio for this process.

Below is the first part of a procedure I have used in the past, which I have quickly modified, since I do not have much time right now. It’s therefore possible I have missed something in the quick edit.

Anyway, this should at least get you started.

Incidentally, my original procedure has 4 stills that float onto the background one at a time and when they are all on the scene, they zoom out one at a time to play another scene. The stills in my case are just the first frame of a moving scene. A great effect, modified from a tip that Tim gave me years ago.

1. Place your hot cake scene in the story board.
2. Make your first still say 58secs, your second 48secs, third 38, etc. This of course depends upon how you want the time of your still onto the background.
Click “OK”
3. Place the first still on the story board behind the background scene.
4. Go to Fx (Transitions) – “PIP Studio” and click “Insert”. Make the range the full 58 seconds by using “X s” button.
5. Launch PIP-Studio
6. Make sure all the settings in all the effect are zero or normal
7. Choose a shape and size “Position” and place it on the background as required “Border” and “Shadow” for effect if required.
8. In your case you do not need any movement, so set this as required.
9. Back to Fx Transition set-up (right click on mouse)
Press “Scene” – “Effect & Scenes” – “OK”. It will now render the effect and then the scene and will place this on your scene bin as “PIP-Studio”. Rename as say “Clip1”
10. Remove both the original scenes from the storyboard (no longer required) and add the “Clip1” scene that has just been rendered.
11. Place 2nd still after it and repeat Steps 4 to 9 with the only exception being that in Step 4 the range will be only 48secs
12. Repeat until all 5 stills are completed.
