Re: New direction? Change? What would you like?
Hear, Hear! I am thinking MSUS has a webmaster that does not care that much about appearances, and whether or not product descriptions can be fully read, without words disappearing off the right end. The whole company has a very good product line but needs to act like IT CARES when someone posts a complaint about the appearance of its website. When the BOTTOM LINE gets hurt, the TOP people have GOT to do something about it, and fix the problems quickly. There's too much other good product offered by the competition out there for them to lax about this.

Re: New direction? Change? What would you like?
Now that I don't earn money from video, now officially a hobbyist, I can't justify spending as much $ as in the past. However, I very much want to continue to produce videos for family & friends. My Kron+ has served me well over the last 7 years, but like all computers, it is showing its age. I've been able to replace parts, especially the burner, hard drives, and connecting ribbons. Increasingly, this has become more difficult in part due to the age but also our systems are less compliant with PCs. I'm hoping that the new Bogart units prove to be a bit easier to find replacement parts, that they in fact will accept more generic parts that are readily available. If so, I may be in the market for the upcoming S2000. Otherwise, I will be looking at alternatives when I finally put the Kron to rest.
My 1st option is to stay with Casablanca. I hope that our company remains viable and the new products competitive both in cost and elegance.

Reading this thread is difficult but the gist of it is focused on the website. As many of you know, I'm a website guy. At one of my sites, einsiders.com, we are going through one heck of an upgrade. It isn't easy. The macrosystem site ought to be even less complex if you ask me. The German one is better than the US one. Simple is best on the web these days.
I'm considering going to the March get together. Seems like it would help for all of us to be in a room with Macrosystem. The new machine has such promising advantages. Every time I use it, it gets a little better.

I agree that simple is better, but we are visual people. Videos examples on the site is what sold me in the past. I need to see it in action before I buy it.
Based on everyones negative feedback regarding the 4000, I am no where near thinking of putting 1 dollar into the purchase of that machine.
MS seemed to have promised everything, but in actuality, gave little. That fact that you cannot even use firewire is ludicrous.

Re: New direction? Change? What would you like?
Jonathan,
You should come to the March Get Together as we will have S4000Pro units as well as Solitaires, etc and both the German CEO of the company, Jörg Sprave and the new head of MSUS, Eric Kloor will be there (even though he never acknowledge so in my question to him on that in another thread).
Jeff, just to clarify, firewire works to decks and cams and to external hard drives for back up as with the generation two units.
It does not to date work directly with PCs which I agree is ridiculous, but I know they intend them to so it should just be a matter of time for that.
They are adding additional programs monthly that will work with the S4P although they still have a long way to go yet and some are not transferrable such as Motion Perfect so they are coming out with new replacements for those.
Also, the Media Manager shows great future promise, but in functionality the word "future" is key so I am certainly not arguing with your decision on waiting on purchasing a "work in progress" which describes the S4000Pro, but I have great confidence that the company will address most, if not all of the various shortcomings.

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

What a wonderful thread. Thank you all for your time, input, suggestions, and ideas.
We're at work on a new website. The software is making huge strides. I'm here, and I'm listening keenly to your comments, as is Jorg. Please be patient with me, and us, as there is a lot on our plate. Know that there is nothing more important than delighting each of you, and growing this family.
And yes, I will be at the MGT, or at least the last two days of it. I've a previous commitment with no wiggle room, alas. Tim ... sorry I missed your query in the other post.

Mr. Kloor:
Thank you for your communication with us. It seems that this is an exciting time in our Macrosystem world. Sure has been a lot of change, but sometimes change is a very necessary thing, painfull as it may be.
We look forward to the changes and future products at MSUS as well as what Chet will now provide in his new role.

What is Chet's new role? Sorry, I'm apparently a little out of the loop.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: New direction? Change? What would you like?
I would like to see training videos that are enough up to the latest OS to show a screen that has the same options as what I am looking at, so I have some idea of how to work the program and use it. There are a few that are designed on SE3 or 4, and lack options that I see in SE7, and I won't know how to use the feature I see that is not in the video. This isn't true with all the software demos, but is with some. This should be enough to take a good look at all the training videos and see which ones need re-shooting to show the latest options. I LOVE the training video on SE7, and the way it brings out the new wrinkles in it. Very helpful. Additionally an option is accessible differently from the way the video shows it to be accessible. This needs updating, as well.
