Actually we can only handle the numbers for machines and software sold in the UK because we only have those license codes on our server. Distributors in each country have their own server which produces the numbers (or they access the German server). Eventually I'm sure each will provide their users with the txt file required.

I put the lizenzen file on an 8mb SanDisk compact flash thats now to small to be of much use to me for anything else. Using my 12 in 1 SanDisk card reader it worked great!
My morale is slowly climbing again

I have enough flash drives that dedicating one for this was no big deal, but I have even small SD cards that I don't use for anything any more so I think I will put the file on one of those to try the next time I do a full install.

The next step after the succeful introduction of codes via this procedure will be the proper updating of newly released software and their new codes.

I have made some file name changes with some input from others and have tried another full, destructive install with complete success.

The file I have hosted on line for template use has been updated to the fully successful configuration.

Also, per Chris Stone's experiment I tried two other things.

One, I used an old 32MB SD memory card I no longer used for anything and deleted everything on it and loaded up only the Lizenzen file.

Two, I put it in a USB multi-card reader that I knew was compatible with our systems and connected it to the front USB jack.

Then I did the full, destructive install and when it came back up the default seven (7) software that come with the OS CD were already activated (I did not have to manually chose activate, let alone type anything in, they were already activated).

So, my conclusions are:

1. You can use any type of flash card with a compatible USB reader or a USB flash drive as long as the Lizenzen file is the only file.
2. You can use any of the USB jacks, front or back does not matter.
3. Connecting the USB file prior to performing the full, destructive install (perhaps even as long as you have not powered back up after the install, but not positive) saves a little bit more time as the default seven software needed for OS functionality will already be activated automatically.
4. Man this saves a lot of time and aggravation! LOL

PS - So you can do this for yourself using my file as a template and subbing in your machine's id and activation codes or you can just wait to see if/when MSUS will supply you a personalized file for this.

I think they ultimately will, but realize there are a lot of us and few of them so who knows how long it might take.
