audio editing

Post by videojim »

I am wanting to fade in the ambient audio that was recorded by the camera, but the fade, and other buttons are telling me they won't work for this track. What video training DVD covers training for the audio side of Renomee?

Hi Jim

The easiest way to do that is to copy the audio from that scene you want to fade.Highlight the scene you wat to copy in the scene bin go to special menu than scene sample than OK.
Now you find the audio of that scene in your audio record box (just play it )than go to audio mix screen and place the scene sample under neath the same scene with the same name or number on one of the audio tracks below than mute original sound of that scene on the top track and now you can fade the replacement audio on the track below. Don't forget to fade the scene out if you are using transitions.(eg 1 sec transition get a half a sec fade)

That makes sense! Ambient audio won't be adjustable, so just move it to a track that is. Guess that's the only solution, huh?
Thanks!

Re: audio editing-problem!!!

Problem is, in the "special" menu in the edit mode, "scene-sample" is not an option, no matter what postion the bar below is in. What software package do I need to get that option?

You should be able to fade in or out, on your source audio tracks. I am assuming you mean the top track that has the audio associated with the video clip. You not only have to click on the track so the track is highlighted, but also on the audio clip itself which is located under the video clip, but before the optional music tracks. Just clicking on the video clip to select it isnt enough, click on the audio segment of the video clip so it itself is highlighted and then you can use the fade function.

Your scene>sample is not part of any special software, it is part of all casablancas default menus. It should be listed alphabetically under the special tab in your edit menu. It is not located under the special tab of the audio section, only in the main edit window, just above a white line.

Jim,

There is a feature of the OS that makes it easier to see what options are available in certain menus. This feature appears in the Edit Screen under New and Special; in the Transition Screen under the types of transitions; in the Image Processing Screen under the various options; and in the Titling Screen.

Remember that many gray rectangles with text are buttons that open up further options for you.

When you look at the box in any of these screens that shows your choices you will see several buttons at the bottom of that box arranged in two rows. The top row has buttons for Preview (play once); Full Size (opens a full size preview screen with a slider that lets you peek at different points of the scene with options for viewing the original, the effect, or different combinations of both); Continuous Replay of the effect (this is the circle with an arrow on top); and the i button for information on the effect).

The bottom row has one long button with 3 short horizontal bars at the right edge. Click that button and you'll see a list of display options that lists All, Default, Optional, and then all of the add-on packages you have that work in that menu. These buttons affect how many choices you can see in the list of effects above. This is very useful when you want to see processing choices contained in just one program like Magic Lights rather than the entire list of effects.

My guess is that you don't have ALL selected. Try that and let us know if you find that Scene>Sample choice listed.

One more thing, Scene to Sample happens instantly with no indication that anything happened. Just go to the Audio Record screen to find the newly created sample.

Got it figured out. Scene>sample is NORTH of the proverbial white line in the special menu, and I was forgetting about that line. Found it. I guess when you mute a track, you have to create the mute effect, as much as anything you'd be putting in?
