Yesterday, I was at the birthday party of a 4 year old boy. I got a half hour of video and some digital stills to go with it. I dumped the video with no problem, but could not get my Renomee to recognize the card reader plugged into the back. Don't know which models recognize the USB's in the back as signal sources, but Renomee is NOT one of em. I got into Photo Studio 2 and tried everything possible, but no cigar.

I'd say your Reno should be able to see the usb. It must be either your card or the card reader is not recognized. For a fact, my Kron will not recognize my card reader with the card reader 1.3d installed. I had to do a complete reinstall and use card reader 1.3c. I would first try a different card, then try to swap the card reader. I guess you could check your usb connection by plugging your keyboard or tracball into the connector to make sure it is working.

You have to also have the Card Reader software activated as well as PT or PS activated to get a multi-card reader recognized.

There is sometimes issues with having recogniztion issues when you also have a flash drive connected and occasionally it requires a power cycle once the multi-card reader is connected to get recognition.

As previously mentioned you must have card reader software activated but even then there is not 100% recognition of card readers. I have several bought as samples before stocking them that are just not recognised.

I also have issues opening the card reader and seeing the preview.
After power up of S4k and highlighting PT the first attempt will fail.
Opening PT thereafter for the second time will show the preview.
I even tried deleting and activating again Card Drive 1.3d but still the same issue.
I used this card reader for 4 years now and it never failed before.
I just tried my card reader in USB-Docking-Station with same issue,
only the second try succeeds.
