Rotate 2

Post by rone »

I am still trying to rotate my text vertical (see previous post).

I figured out how to do it by putting the text on a green backgound then keying out the color onto my scene ... but to do that I need to rotate the green background with text 90 deg.

The effect "SPECIAL / ROTATE" will not change the angle by 90 deg.
If you select 90 deg it might rotate somewhere around 30 deg.
You would think 90 deg. would be the same in Germany and the USA. ?
Maybe I'm just not getting it ?

Any help?

There is limited rotation. The only way I was able to go around this was via CB PAINT. I cut out the angular rotation into a CUSTOM BRUSH and assigned keypoints to change the angle.

Maybe PIP 3D might work......never tried it.

Hi Rone,

Why not rotate the scene three times = 90 deg?

Hi Ron,

There are two different programs that rotate video for the Cassie II machines, available in two different Effects Packs.

Rotate is available in Effects Pack 7 and may do what you want - it rotates and shrinks the scene.

Rotate 2 is available in Effects Pack 8 and has the ability to rotate a scene in 1/10 of a degree increments, so you would use it more to straighten out a scene where the tripod wasn't levelled properly before shooting.

CB Paint with its intensive rendering would not be recommended for for an Avio.

A 90°setting in Rotate 2 is actually 90 X 1/10, or 9°. I tried it in my Kron Plus and using 450° got the text rotated to 45°. Repeating the effect got me 90°, however I don't think the rotated scene was shrunk. Let us know what you come up with.

"Rotate" is a transition effect.

"Rotate 2" rotates a clip up to 45 degrees into both directions.

But with "Elastic Dreams Warp" you can rotate a clip up to 360 degrees.

In effects pack 7, I only have a transitional ROTATE. Is it suppose to be in SPECIAL?

ROTATE 2 only allows -450 to +450 degrees.

My apologies, I guess Rotate is only a transition effect.

Remember that the 450'' in Rotate 2 represents tenths of a degree, so that if you set the slider all the way to + or - 450 it will only tilt the image 45° clockwise or counterclockwise.

I would hope that Chet Davis, the Casablanca Expert, wouldn't mind me quoting his response (that I saved) to a similar question a while back:
To create a title that is positioned vertically on the right side of
your screen, (read from bottom to top) you can use either the PIP
Logo or the PIP Simple options that are both part of the Title
Effects 2 software. The setting that allows the sideways positioning
is the Rotation choices under the Positioning menu in these two
effects. For straight up and down titles, set the Rotation Z to -90
(you would set it to 90 if you wanted titles running top to bottom).

And I also found that you would need to adjust the Position X setting
to about -50 (depending on the size of your font).

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Chet

Thanks Craig.

I usually use CB PAINT to make a CUSTOM BRUSH of the entire scene. I then set KEYPOINTS. I can flip the entire scene 360 degrees or angle at any degree.
