slow moving text

I am looking to make very slow moving text. Is it possible to make it slower then the 10 seconds that the slider gives you in the moving box effect? I added the dummy scene to the right, but it only makes slower up to the 10 seconds. I tried to use the slo mo effect, but that was awful. Any suggestions?

Hello Jeff,

If you want to have a vertical scroll it's easy....just create a background scene for the length of time you want to test out. If you want it longer then 10 seconds...make the first test 20 seconds, then create a 40 second scene and test your title on each of them.

You will note that the speed of the title moving up the scroll depends on how long the back ground scene is. So the simple title on only three lines may take 30 seconds to move all the way up over the 40 second background and might take 15 seconds over the 20 second background and only about 5 seconds over the 10 second background. The speed of the letters moving is entirely dependent on the scene length.

So once you determine how long you need to make the back ground, to get the speed you are looking for....either fast or slow, you can use that background length and render it and make a scene of it to lock the title into it and then you can cut off the extra length that you don't need for your title. I just did one over a 50 second Background and could cut off or trim over 15 seconds off the title and had an extremly slow movement to the letters. The 25 second background rendered a slow moving title of 17 seconds and I could cut off or trim about 8 seconds to show just the title moving.

This same system works very well for the horizontal scroller as well. The longer the scene....the slower the title moves.

I hope this will allow you to do what you had in mind.

Thanks for the idea, but I tried that with a 1 min background scene and what I get is the text moving slowly from the in point, It then stops and then exits slowly. I want it to not stop and move slowly for the entire length of the scene. Tim had told me the trick of making a dummy scene to the right to eliminate the stopping and that worked for my last effect. This time I need to do the same thing, but want the text to move very very slow for a 6 sec scene. Using Tim's trick, I can't get it to move slow enough. I want the text to almost look as though the it is just moving 2 or 3 letters one way or the other.
I know it is probably hard to visualize, I will see if I can find an example if you tell me this isn't making sense to you.

I'm not quite sure of your final result that you are looking for. Single line or multiple lines at the same time etc. One thing to try would be a horizontal scroll of your preferred type on a long black scene. Once you get the right combination of speed, trim it to the desired effect/length and use Blue Box or Blue Box World to super the title over the actual scene split to the same length where you want the graphic. Maybe I'm missing the boat entirely, but that may start some creative juices going for what you actually are trying to do.

Bingo!!! That did it! Thank you Bob! I knew I could get help here. I used horizontal scroller on a 1 minute 20 second green background to give me the speed I wanted. I then trimmed it to the 6 seconds and made another green scene the same length. Then used PIP studio to place it where I wanted it. I then used BBW between my footage needed for the background and the text on the green background. Worked beautifully!
