HDV MPEG Backup

Post by ShadowVision »

I've been using the HDV backup option successfully for projects under, say, 10 minutes in length.

So for my small commercial projects under 4 minutes (Internet "How to" videos), the HDV works great. But for my 30 minute show, the option tends to separate the MPEG-2 file into two parts. I've not tried to reassemble them with my MAC, but does anyone know what it does that?

I suspect that there is a file size limit or something. Tonight I've been using a 500 gig harddrive I picked up real cheap for file transfer. The drive was $69 at my local BJs, and after I reformatted it FAT32 with my MAC, I've been able to use it all evening for moving MPEG files from my S4KP to my MAC for burning onto dvd for the client. Tomorrow, I'll try it for my 30 minute TV show and let you guys know if the MPEG file separates into two files.

This Internet "How To" job is a weird deal guys. Maybe some of you are doing this kind of work. But I shoot these "How To" videos and then cut them into, in this case, 13 separate clips of 2 to 4 minutes in length each. The S4KP has a file name limit that is not long enough to accommodate the client's naming requirements. And I can't burn a dvd with the S4KP that has several clips on it, rather, just one clip per dvd. Maybe one of you can tell me a better way to do it (don't even mention Media Manager).

So, unless one of you can tell me opposite, I have to get the MAC involved to burn the dvd with more than one MPEG clip on it and to rename the files. Thoughts?
