Rone, I am completely inexperienced with digital, so please explain "forget progressive" when downconverting. Thanks. My DP wants it done in HD, but I don't exactly know all the ins and outs of working with HDV. Could have a fun enough time in SD, much less something as new as this.

Someone might correct me...and I hope they do !
If you shoot 720P your Ronemee, Avio, Solitaire, etc it will only make straight cuts on the material. Many (most) transitions, special effects on imported footage etc will not work. All is not lost ... unless you need 720p then you might want to purchase another editor, software, support equipment etc. etc.
If your shooting with the JVC HM700 shoot in 1920x1080 x 60i then firewire into your cassie. See page 113 in the owners manual.
