Hi John
The footage never looks great when you record it in the machine but if you see a loss of quality you are not the only one. Franklin and I have been mentioning this before on this forum that the footage we put in our machine comes out worse after editing or no editing. I thought it was just me being too picky on the machine but if we buy the best camera we can afford, we expect to keep at least the quality we recorded. Being such an expensive machine you think it would do better. Please everyone who owns a pro, let us know if you notice the same thing re the quality loss.

Do you mean poor quality HDV to HDV, or DV to back to DV tape, or out to DVD?
My experience is HDV via file on DVD to PlayStation3 appears faultless.
HDV to DVD in SD is dreadful. Best is to send HDV back to camera then down convert In camera to SD and then to DVD.
I'm in PAL land, Cheers Alan.
