Can anyone walk me through the steps to a fresh install. I also need to know if there is another version of OS I am running now. Current is 6.1a . If there is please let me know how to download it? No budget at this time to purchase a newer version. I was informed that this may be reason unit keeps shutting down.

Well Greg, I'm running 6.1c. From the Macrosystem home page click on Downloads, Smart Edit, and select your OS for Solitaire. Save it to your computer. Use software to burn to cd (i use a free program called DeepBurner - Google for free download. Burn ISO file onto cd - select burn ISO.
From System, Install Product, select the OS when it becomes visible. First choice is Yes/No to update - Files remain current. If you say no, then you can perform a destructive or clean install. You will need to reinstall your software and all projects will be lost.
Anyway, this is what I do for my Kron. I assume the Solitaire is similar.
