Extremely Frustrated

Post by GregB »

I've been trying to follow the way to do things through this forum . I thought I did the fresh install the way Tim had said , but now The machine keeps shutting down 30 seconds or so after that green screemn comes on. It actually started the new install then shut down. I need help quickly. I have 2 projects that need to be finished for our cable channel.
Thanks Greg

Green screen?

That doesn't sound good.

I agree, try another disk, you might want to try the last known good version you had, Greg.

I had one of the problem Units that when I put in Operating System 2.3C it cause problems with the operating system. So last Thursday I got the update 2.3D and loaded it in the my S4K/Pro and sometimes it worked, sometimes not. At times I couldn't get the main menu and other times it would just lock up and freeze. Did an update, for the third time, a full install.

When I would do a full install it would come up as a one screen monitor operation. I don't like to use it that way because there is to much clutter on the screen. But when I would put it in the two monitor system it would work one time and them lock up again, or not work at all.

I notice whenever I done a full install and went to the two monitor system, that was when I ran into different problems. The system would lock up, both screens went black. There was kind of a green bar flashing on the video monitor and then both screen would go black. I can see the data loading on the VGA monitor, the update and full install screen when I use the two monitor system while loading a full or update install.

Does this mean I must only use 2.3D in the single monitor mode and not use a VGA monitor? I sure hope not. Is there sonething I may be doing wrong? I even tried two different VGA Monitors.

I believe that this is (now) a known issue with a few machines showing the same peculiarity - a fix is on its way in the next update.

In the meantime I'm afraid you'll be better off in single screen mode

I believe this is the new auto-monitor detect circuitry not recognizing monitors problem.

My understanding is they will fix that with a manual overide with a future update.

Thanks Tim and Michael
That's good news to hear. I was wondering what I was doing wrong. I have a nice High Res VGA monitor and love using it for the menu, I can see more scenes in my scene bin at one time. I also can see the video on my viewing monitor better, without all that clutter.

The alternative, and what I prefer, is to use a 32" TV via HDMI. You can have loads of scenes in the scene bin too, just like your high res VGA, and everything just looks so crisp and sharp . . .

That is what I have been primarily using recently as it gives a kick butt QuadCam feature with the new significantly larger four Inset display screens.

While I have been a strong proponent of two monitor editing I would suggest switching to one of the one monitor modes if your particular model is not interacting well with the new auto monitor detect circuitry until they fix that problem in a future Bogart 2.x version.
