Actually, 720p material from cards works fine. So if you record material with your Sony PMW series or the new JVC camcorders that can record XDCAM as well, and set the camera to 720p mode, Bogart will import the material just fine from USB and upscale it to 1080i. I have tested this myself, with material from users and from JVC, given to me at the NAB.
It's just that the Firewire import does not work properly with 720p. So the HDV camcorders JVC used to sell won't work. But even such material can be used, you just need to convert it into a Media Manager or Bogart compatible file (such as DivX 1280x720) on a PC or Mac.
Make sure you use the 2.3 software.

Current status: Casablanca and 720P
There was a thread on the Cassie Tips List about editing 720p footage on Casablanca. The following post was made this morning by Macrosystem CEO Jörg Sprave. This is in reference to the current Next Generation Casablanca editors operating on the Bogart SE OS. I thought it of value to post here as well:

Just a note of clarification....Jorg mentions in the above note about the "HDV Camcorders that JVC used to sell". The GYHD200 and GYHD250 HDV camcorders are still current models and are still being sold.

Re: Current status: Casablanca and 720P
It is unfortunate that 720p cannot be used with our systems via firewire as that is still a very valid and prevalent transfer method and suggesting having to input them into a PC, convert the files and then find a way to transfer them into our machines stretches the term and practicality of "work around" beyond reason.
Especially when you cannot even firewire between any PC and the Bogart systems.

I agree with Tim especially the machine are been sold as High Definition editors and than come across limitations in the system not being able to import HD footage by fire wire (with some popular brand cameras) is beyond me. The only way I import footage is by fire wire but I haven't switched to HD yet and hopefully when I do my Sony cameras are right to do so.

Forgive me please, but everyone who has seen a "good" 1080i signal will prefer this to any 720p footage, I think.
And I am saying this as as a non-MacroSystem-employee.

I'm curious, wich generation of casablanca your guy's talking about ?
because my S4000PRO IMPORT AND EXPORT via firewire without any problem 720P30, 720p60 .
funny to read this threads because I own 2 JVC HD200U.
I shoot only 720p30,720p60, sometime 24p ,25p depend on what i need to acomplish and
import via fire wire i had no issues.
for those of you who have problem importing with the above mentioned camera you need a firmware upgrade go here.

Well that is news to other users of JVC 720p users and even to the CEO of the company.
