MP3 Help
I had a customer send me some music for her production via e-mail. She sent them as an MP3. I can download them and listen to them in media player, but I need to get them on a cd to put them in her production. I am sure I have done this before but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me ? Thanks in advance. Bob...

Re: MP3 Help
I had a similar situation recently where a customer gave me music files on a mini usb stick from their key chain (mp3).
Until I get the S-4100 and media manager, my Casablanca Renommee Plus will not read mps files that I am aware of, so I simply transfered the usb mp3 files to a desktop pc, then copied them to Sonic CD creation program, chose burn CD files, then inserted the audio CD into my Renommee Plus and editied the music perfectly.
If you have media manager, simply go into audio usb import and bring in the audio files, then into the Bogart edit bin.

Re: MP3 Help
Bob,
If you have one of the more recent OS versions of Smart Edit you can input both WAV and MP3 files.
Just burn them to a CD or CD-RW using an audio software like Itunes, etc as you would to playback in your CD player.
Then input the finished CD into your Renommee burner, go to the Audio - Record, Edit menu and choose the leftmost CD icon.
Choose Display and then Input All to transfer all WAV and MP3 files on the CD into your machine.

Re: MP3 Help
well I got the MP3s in. I had to save them to my desk top and then grab them to media player and then I burned them. Theres got to be a better way. I still haven't got the SD card reader to work. I had to get about 20 pictures in a project today and had to put them on a CD-R. Will a CD-RW work. then I wouldn't be wasting a CD every time. One thing I did run into today I had never seen. I inserted the stills in front of the project and I had music tracks down and it ask me if I wanted to move the music tracks forward too and I clicked on no. My music was messed up. Bob......

Bob
The following is applicable to your Renommee. Your profile dose not indicate which OS version you have, but I am assuming at least V6.
With respect to your card reader, first go into “System settings”, scroll down to the “card drive”, my version is V1.3d and make sure it is activated. If it is not there at all, then you will first need to load this from your program CD.
The other thing is, that not all card readers work with our Cassie systems, I have one called Trust, which works just fine. You may need to ask your dealer which ones work with our equipment.
Now for your audio issue.
By default the audio tracks in your audio mixing screen do not all operate the same.
The first track, that is the cam audio, the second track, the one marked with a mic and the last two tracks are all fixed to which ever scene you attach them to. That is no matter what you do in front of these scenes, the audio will stay locked to the scene and will move forwards if you add more scenes in front later.
The third and forth tracks (the so called music tracks) do not operate the same, they are fixed to the start of the story board, so if later you add more scenes, this audio will move forwards to remain the same time from the start of the story board.
Don’t ask me why it does this, I have never yet had a project where I would want this arrangement.
Now from OS V6 (I think it started at this version), if you go into project settings there is a button labelled “Audiosettings”. If you go into this and change all the tracks to “Locked”, the audio will always stay with the appropriate scene, no matter what you do up front. You will also notice the audio tracks in the mix page will change from symbols to numbers, i.e. 1 through to 6.
This is the first thing I do when setting up a new project.
Incidentally, to avoid such issues that you experienced, we always had a rule of thumb for editing that the sequence of editing should be
Edit to story board
Transitions
Image processing
Titles
Voice over / music
This sequence is not as important today, as it was when NLE editing first came out, but it is not a bad rule to edit by, it can still save confusion and multiple rendering.

Re: MP3 Help
Good morning Ian, I have OS V7.0 and I looked at card reader and its active. The reader I was trying to use is a digital. Maybe I'll try another one. Have you ever tried a RW CD to use so you could erase the pics each time? That would be fine. Like this case I forgot a pic and had to expend another CD. Thats not all the money in the world but it adds up. The thing with the audio was frustrating. I added a picture after all this and this time I clicked yes when it ask if I wanted to move the audio up too. That seemed to lock the audio to the scene I had put it on. I will be so glad when this wedding is out of my hair, what little I have left. This editor has caused me to pull it all out. LOL! I have found they all have their frustrations. Thanks Bob...

Re: MP3 Help
Good Afternoon Bob
If your card reader software is active, then almost certainly it will be your actual card reader that is not compatible.
I have tried a number of readers, I’m sorry to say I cannot remember which, and about half of them were OK and the other half would not work. I seem to remember Chet publishing somewhere the ones that worked with a Cassie in the US.
Yes I have used CD-RW’s for transfer between a PC and my Solitaire. It is sometime since I used it for photo transfers, since the card reader is much quicker, but I use one all the time for music transfers.
I mainly use iTunes to sort out the music I require, burn a CD-RW and import them to my Solitaire.
When starting any new project, there is a temptation to dive straight in, however, taking a few minutes at the very beginning to go through the 3 settings options, (systems, project and video) can save an awful of time and heartache later on.
Stick in there Bob, you will find we have all been there at some time or other, but you will find plenty of people on this site only too willing to assist where they can.
