another howzit done?

Post by videojim »

I am looking to make a frame grab from video in SE7, on a Renomee. How is this done? I have some guesses, but would rather hear from someone who has done this, if it is possible. Thanks!

Get the scene you want to grab up in the work window in the scene bin. go to special and click on still scene. It wil ask you to determine the length 0 to 50 seconds. set that and click ok. you then have a still scene. Hope this helps. Bob...

As Bob mentions, creating a Still Frame (or Freeze Frame) is done under the Special button in the Edit menu. Wanted to also point out that this new still frame is taken from the first frame of video on your scene. To identify/select which frame of video you are 'stilling' you would use the Trim 'IN' button to adjust to your preference. One other note - if your video has significant motion, use the 'Half-Frame' setting. If it is largely a static shot of video use the 'Full-Frame' setting. This samples either one field vs. one whole frame (2 fields) of the video. (very quickly moving video will still exhibit motion blur when grabbing a still).

Hope that helps!

Chet

okay, now what if the picture I want to grab is on an mpg2 disc, as in already burned? I want to grab a still which is a chapter picture, and make a print of that. It is on the menu, so I would have to look throughout the show, and see where it is, other than the menu pic. Ideas? Does being a burned MP2 make this impossible?

If it's burned you can re-input it, but the quality is degraded and if this was SD footage will make an already poor resolution frame grab that much worse and noisy.

Better would be to use Split and find the frame you want and choose Use for the one frame you want.

It sounds like you want to make an actual photo of it.

If so, use Split to single it down to a frame, use Photo Transfer to transfer it to a flash drive (easiest) or CD/CD-RW and transfer it to your PC or Mac to print.

If it is SD footage prepare to be disappointed in the image quality if you are going larger than a 4X6 and even at that size truthfully compared to a real photo.

At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.
