I am still using an old Avio out on location for immediate editing. We have been feeding it with a 4:3 picture but now may be using a 16:9 feed.
Does this matter as on the newer software there was a 16:9 / 4:3 option but on this old one there does not seem to be.
Thanks,
Old Avio and 16:9 / 4:3

Re: Old Avio and 16:9 / 4:3
Hello Martin,
Doing a little digging in the archives -- found that you apparently need the Pro Pack/AVIO Pro to enable 16:9 -- at least according to this web page on the MS DE websitehttp://www.macrosystem.de/e/avio_difference.html
I could not find any other info related to which OS version gave us the 16:9 option.
Regards,
Chet

Re: Old Avio and 16:9 / 4:3
Hi Martin,
I believe it was Smart Edit 5 that first gave the 16:9 and HDV options as well as a few other features including the ability to burn audio CDs if your editor had a DVD burner included. I'm not sure if SE 5 required the editor to have 256 megs of memory. I'm also not sure if Arabesk 3 allowed you to burn 16:9 programs (I know Arabesk 4 does), or what happened if you output a 16:9 program to a stand alone DVD burner that didn't list 16:9 DVDs as a feature.

Re: Old Avio and 16:9 / 4:3
Thank you Chet and Craig, I have a couple of Avio DV units at home with 4.1 and pro software that give the option of 16:9 and 4:3.
I may give it a go this Saturday as I have a couple of old 1.10 units that I don't mind hauling up and down gantries and will feed one with a 16:9 feed and one with a 4:3 feed and see how it goes.
Thanks again,
