PhotoStudio 2 using CardReader question

Post by vdoeddy »

I am having a problem using my ScanDisk card reader into my Kron with PhotoStudio2. Each time I try to import my photos with the cardreader, they show up as 'corrupted' in the PhotoStudio. I can convert these same photos onto a CD and they load into the PhotoStudio with no problems. Am I missing something are am I using the wrong CardReader for this program. Any help would be mostly appreciated as this is really getting very frustating.

Ed

Hi Ed, been a long time since we've spoken. I don't have a solution for you really, but just suggest using a CD-RW so you can at least keep reusing the CDs and not waste one every time you need to load a picture.

Ed,

I assume you have imported photos with this or another USB drive previously?
If yes (and the fact that your images were even recognized) tells me you do apparently have the Card Drive software activated.

To answer one of your questions - there are many folks who have experienced more compatibility with two USB Flash Drives: you can read the article discussing these two models on my website - click here (this is one of several free articles available to both website subscribers and the Casablanca public).

I do know of others who have experienced success with other brands but if it were me I would try one of these two more compatible models.

Ed
I agree the most likely problem is the SanDisk USB stick. I have an 8GB SanDisk which will not work at all with PS2, or for that matter any other program, whereas others such as Kingston Data Traveler work just fine.

Ed,

I did receive your private message with clarification and I totally understand your desire to streamline your work-flow, to be able to pull the flash card from your camera and go right into the Casablanca (via Card Reader) without having to take that extra step on a computer (to down-load and then upload to USB flash drive).

You _should_ be able to do this. I have heard from some colleagues experiencing some difficulty with this process. Here are some suggestions - first, ensure you have the most recent version of Photo Studio 2 (Version 2.11 for Smart Edit) or the latest version of Photo Transfer (Version 1.6c for Smart Edit) installed.

Also - for those of you on Smart Edit (Bogart OS includes the functionality of Card Drive software) make certain you also have the latest version of Card Drive software (Version 1.3d) installed on your Casablanca (free software but requires the 12-digit activation code).

You can download both/either of these products in the All Software (Add-ons) CD on the MSUS website here http://macrosystem.us/index.php?pr=Add-Ons

The other thing I would suggest is to clear your cache before attempting to load a batch of pics... do this by backing out of your current project and entering another project (I prefer clicking into an empty project - going into that Record menu) and then return to your desired project. Some folks will also power-down (in an empty project) to totally clear out your cache. This last process here is 'shooting from the hip' ... this won't necessarily resolve your issue but remedies some occasional issues some folks have with system performance - but I figure it's worth a try!

Chet, thanks again for your reply regarding my problem with PS2 using my cardreader. I checked and I do have the latest version of PS2 and Card Drive 1.3. First, I'm going to purchase a better CardReader and possibly the PYN Attache or Kinston Traveller flash drive. One way are another I'm sure to have better results. Again , thank you.
