DVD and Media Manager

Is it possible to export a DVD (not stills..a movie) to an active StoryBoard via the Media Manager?

Yes you can by using the film achieves but I found when you use footage in Media Manager the quality of the footage has noticeably been deteriorated.
You would be better to import with a stand alone DVD player with the normal RCA leads this is what I do to keep the quality.
Media Manager hasn't been the great feature that they promised it is still pretty useless and still can't convert much.

You should share your great knowledge of how to use MM properly then Volker as the vast majority of users, including myself find it pretty useless as it unacceptably degrades most video when it works at all.

Wait a minute, you said you cannot speak for NTSC version which is what the vast majority on the BB use.

I am using the Pal version of MM and it is unacceptable how the footage deteriorates after you have imported it into MM.
I use the Pro consumer Z1 camera I might as well had use an el cheapo camera if you try to archive it by MM.
I archive now with the HD backup which could have designed better to backup and restore single projects but that is a different story.

Eric try to bring a one minute video from your storyboard to MM and compare the quality of the footage you find out your self quick enough.

PS. When you have to do a full install everything in MM is gone and you have to load and rename everything that is why I don't put music in there
and don't use it.

I also archive with "HD backup" and additionally I transfer my HD projects to the film archive of the Media Manager.
There is no quality loss at all because it just does a "file copy" without any conversion when you do not use the "MPEG conversion" in the "Archive" menu.
So you can not see any difference at all when you playback HD from the storyboard or from the Media Managers archive.
This archive is a great value for presenting videos in your family or for your customers for example. Handling is done via an infrared remote control.

When you want to backup your Media Manager's archives (with names and folders and stuff), you can use the Galileo software (which might be unknown here)...

Not sure why I am still fighting for MS, maybe because I still like their products.

Don't think your still fighting for MS rather speaking as you find your MM working.What could be an important difference is your using a Enterprise and software i've never heard of namely Galileo which i don't think is included with the gen 3 Casablanca.

As far as i was concerned the Kron was a book end while others thought it a great piece of equipment,one can only speak as you find.

I do believe Chet is bringing out a DVD on the workings of MM.

I like MSUS as well, but they have failed the customer badly with the third generation machines giving virtually no effective customer support (aka: fixes, real world improvements) over an entire year from when they started selling them.

The only significant fixes have occurred in the last couple of months and are far from addressing all issues even on the Borgart side.

On the MM side, it is mostly smoke and mirrors without explanations or functionality.

It is not about "fighting", it's about keeping it real.

I have always been one of the first to defend MS/MSUS when the complaints are coming from users that are causing their own problems with user error, but that has not been the case with the gen3 machines.

Frankly, I am tired of the "all is going well on my machine" responses from officials and dealers when it is not true in real world use.

Even for playback there are still frame skipping issues (although not anywhere near as bad as previous versions) that would keep me from using this machine to display work professionally to make a sale.

And our multi-thousand dollar units did not come with a remote.

btw. the Enterprise MAX is technically speaking exactly the same machine as the S4000 Pro (just add two cable TV tuners and a remote which you can buy for a few $ if you want)...

I wasn't necessarily referring to you Volker although your status changed relatively recently and your attitude is probably still shaded a bit with rose colored glasses and inside information as you could actually speak in person to those who designed Media Manager.
