I'm sorry guy's if this is in the wrong section.
I am looking for some super dense and thick foam for a rather large hard camera carry/equipment case that I got from a military surplus center.
I want to replace the soft foam with some dense foam that I can cut to shape my camera's and prestige for quick on the run packing.
I live in hurricane country and last year during "IKE" it was a bear to get my equipment ready in all those small cases and boxes along with the accessories!
Anyone have an idea on where to buy the foam?
Fry's doesn't sell it and my local "hobby lobby" closed down.
I want something dense for mobility issue's and "knock around" insurance, basically to make transport more secure and not to damage my very valuable gear!
I'm sure all of us here have similar problems.

CK I 'scroogled' foam also and got many results.
I guess I should have been more specific and asked for references on vendor's or retailers that other's have used and what type of foam is best for denseness and stability sense there are many different foams for packing and so forth.
thanx for the reply.

Re: dense thick foam for cases?
I was looking for the same thing and found that the foam made for the cases cost as much or more than the cases and that is ridiculous.
So I went to walmart and bought some memory foam for a bed mattress and cut it to fit for a fraction of the cost and it works great.

JoAnne's Fabrics carries an assortment of foam as does the Army Navy Stores. Sometimes you can locate 40% off coupons for JoAnne's.

The thing you need to watch for is if the foam begins to crumble over time. This could begin to mess up your equipment as tiny fragments of foam started to find their way into moving parts or even onto lenses or inside viewfinders.

Scott Foam and Fabric in Memphis TN would be where I'd go, but that's local to me.
