Renomme to external enclosure

I thank all of you for trying to help me solve this problem of trying to get the hard drive enclosure to be recognized by the firewire port on the Renomme. I have about 8 Saegate (120 to 500 gb) drives I used to use on my old AVIO, so I really don't want to buy another drive (LaCie) when I am not sure even if it will be recognized by the Renomme.

I wonder if the Renomme has only one firewire port compared to the Renomme Plus having front and back? My Renomme only has the rear port.

You didn't mention what type of external hard drive enclosure you are trying to use. It may have both Firewire 400 and Firewire 800 connections. The Cassie II machines only use/see Firewire 400 connections.

I have started using a 500 Gig LaCie Quadra (4 interface options) with my Kron Plus using the Firewire 400 output of the external enclosure. With both the Cassie and enclosure off I just disconnected the drive. When I powered up the Cassie it only showed CD/DVD as an option when I clicked the Destination button.

Have you tried to export video from your PC to your enclosure via Firewire 400? Did you check to make sure that your firewire cable works? Also, when you used the enclosure with your S4000 did it show just one FAT32 partition or does the S4000 use a different format option for external hard drives?

Are you sure about that, I thought both regular and Plus had front firewire ports?

On the left hand front side your unit does not have RCA ports for video, audio right and left, S-video, headphone and a four pin firewire jack?

In my case I have to turn my Lacie drive first and then turn my Prestige for it to show on the backup dropdown.Works everytime
