Hummm Bob

The only thing I can add is that JPEG and *jpg, as far as PS2 is concerned, is not the same thing. If the file reference is .JPEG, PS2 will not accept the file, it has to be .jpg. PC's don't seem to mind which of the file references are used.

If you are calling it JPEG as a generic term and it is in fact .jpg, then I don’t know why it will not accept these photos, they are certainly in the right ball court from a size point of view.

As for your screen fill, unless you can accept a distorted picture, then cropping or scanning at the correct size is the only real way. Provided they are somewhere near and the background is black, a slight none filling of the screen is not always noticeable.

Now it is weird. The files are JPEG and the Ps2 Accepted 60 of them and rejected 2. That is strange. I don't see an option on my PC for *jpg. Maybe thats european like PAL. The pictures that were rejected were #5 and #47 in the Cronological order. I have always used JPEG files for PS2 but most are pictures I have shot and were in a file on my PC. I thought about using a neutral color backing when I scanned those pics in and at least have a pleasing background instead of black. My customer picked up the DVDs and she was happy with them. I was 38 sec. short on the music so I used a guitar piece on the intro and agin on the tail. Worked well. They wanted it to loop so they didn't have to restart the player at the funeral home so I made a scene out of the entire thing once I was done and just kept putting them up till I filled the dvd. I sure like these editors. I just need to learn to work around its limitations. Thanks Bob....

No, as far as I am aware *jpg is not just a European, it’s a worldwide file standard.

As a trial, the two photos you have that will not transfer via PS2, on your PC just type in .jpg in place of the extension .JPEG and see if the will transfer OK. I am assuming you transfer using a card. You can change the file extension in Windows Explorer before dragging and dropping to your card.

To be honest I am not quite sure what the difference is, but I know I and others have had issues with files with an extension of JPEG, when using PS2

well guys thanks for all your advise. I delivered the DVDs this morning and the viewing wasn't supposed to start till 2PM but at 1:30 they called and ordered 10 more DVDs. The family loved it. When I went to the funeral home they ordered 10 more so I guess we did something right. No one said a word about those 2 pics. Although I'd like to understand what happened that they wouldn't go. I also want to know why I have been using JPEGs to enter pics into PS2 and they have been working ok. I did have an issue with my Avio with scanned photos. For some reason I had to put them in a file in my pc and then change the format and then change them again to a JPEG. My dealer was stumped with that one too. I was pleased with the way my collage turned out. You spelling cops notice I used an A in collage. LOL! Bob...

Can some one tell me what is the difference between, jpg, and JPEG. People were telling me that the file extention I needed for PS2 was jpg when in fact I have been using JPEG and had no issues till the first of this week when I was putting some pics in using PS2. I scanned all in as JPEGs and all of them went in as JPEGs except 2 that it rejecected. I went in to my control panel and pulled up Folder options to see what I had available and I found jpe, JPEG, and jpe.
They all were listed as JPEG images. I guess I am confused. I had issues with my Avio pro with scanned images, but I worked around that, but I had never had problems with the renommee till now. I don't use PS2 that much but it is invaluble at times. Thanks Bob....

It's a hang over from the old DOS days that only allowed a 3 digit extension.

Modern PC's tend to generalise and .JPG is often 'shown' as .JPEG.

Casablanca currently likes to adhere to the traditional format (and follows DCIM rules) and so prefer (needs) the older type of extension.

However with the base of our system now being Linux this could (and should) quite easily change in the future.

Why not export from the Cassie a picture, that by definition must be a .JPG, and see what the PC makes of it ?

MichaelD, I look at my photo programs that I have available to me and I don't even find the JPG extention only the JPEG. My Cassie has been accecpting JPEG until this week. Then it only rejected 2 of 62. I tried a couple programs I have downloaded to convert files and neither had JPG only Jpeg. I am burning them on a disc instead of a card. Does that make a difference? I do have a SD card reader set up for that but I have not used it yet. I got so used to using CDs that when I am working I don't think of it. Thanks Bob...

As I said in my earlier post, if in your PC you go into Windows Explorer, locate the photos that you want to transfer and in the title bar change the extensions from JPEG to jpg and they will now be recognised by Renommee. Just delete the file extension and type in the new one, then drag the files and drop them into your flash card.

The strange thing is, it does not reject all JPEG files, but as Michael says, it is a hang over from the DOS days, something I knew, but had forgotten. DOS now seems a million years ago.

Hi Group:
Another solution to pictures that won't be recognized is to capture them directly from your camera mounted on a camera copy stand.
I've used this to solve some of my many problems in capturing pictures.
I've also printed the pictures that have caused problems and rescanned them. That solves the problem too, sometimes.
