I am stumped on this one. Now that the unit is totally dead, it probably is the power supply or maybe some kind of fuse system that cuts off the electric after a surge.

I had one of the first US S4000pro's and it developed a clicking noise as you've described. Sent it back to Boulder and it was a bad power supply.
