Hello Bob,

Martyn is the MacroSystem Distributor in the UK and he along with Ian Pearson flew over here to the US to help me start the very first "March Get Together" seven years ago. He is very very knowledgable and is one who can be trusted to give good advice. So you could say that he has had a lot of experience with our Cassies.

I don't know the lingo for the various installs, so help me out. I am thinking that to do it, the machine has to wake up with the latest OS CD already inside, so it takes its cues from that, but what is that called?

My Renomee is getting ready to be traded for an S6000, but only because it can take video thru USB ports, saving me money on transfer DVD's, and the S6K can take MOV files which is what is being produced on point and shoot cameras that shoot video. Other than that, I could stick with the Ren. Don't care about HD, even tho the 6k can do it handsomely well. I don't hear many missionaries having a budget for it, they're happy to have a video made that helps them get support for their work. They come in with stills and MOV files from their little point and shoots and I try to make something they can use. That's why I HAVE to upgrade to the latest and greatest. Like steppin from a 5 foot high ladder to a 10 footer. Don't have to go to the ground, and learn a completely new system. I just step sideways, update some stuff, get used to Bogart, and I'm in business.

Like most computers, Renommee takes a look in various places to see what it can find before resorting to boot from the hard drive. If there is a Boot CD in the DVD drive it will try and install that first. So we call the o/s disc for these machines a Boot CD. The same applies to the S machines so it is wise not to shut down the machine with any DVDs or CDs left in the drive.

I became a Casablanca dealer in May 1997 with my first shipment of horrendously priced Casablanca Classic analogue with 2 gb hard drives. You can now buy a whole S 3000 for the price of a spare drive for one of those machines.
