S4KP Headphone Jack

Post by ShadowVision »

I just picked up an adapter from Best Buy for using a headphone mini-jack with my S4KP. I'm using it with a pair of wireless headphones I got from Best Buy a few months ago on an amazing sale (they are Rockfish and I paid $5.00, yes, five bucks).

Anyway, the headphones work great and have their own volume controls, but I was wondering if there was a volume setting on the S4KP. Anyone edited using headphones? How do you control volume?

Hello Jonathan,

Yes there is a volume setting on Bogart SE OS
Click on System Settings
click on Additional Settings
Click on the 'Volume' slider and adjust to suit your preference -- you'll hear the Deutsch Engel playing their bells :) to give you a reference.

NOTE: This volume setting not only affects your headphone output but also your audio monitor outputs.

Hope that helps!

Regards,
Chet

Thanks Chet:

I have been using headphones on my S-4000 and I thought I heard that there was a volume control with the latest update of Bogart. Or has it always been there?

I just use headphones with built in volume control and leave the volume up on the S4P.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Great to know! I'll check it out.

I visually adjust sound in Mix, but it is good to have an audio option too.

Hello Everyone,

The volume control is very nice but it can be a problem if you aren't aware that it not only adjusts the headphones output level... but it also adjusts the volume output to your monitor during play back while editing.

If you don't realize that you have turned down the volume there, and go about your audio work and find that you can hardly heard your audio tracks from your monitor when you are editing audio....you will be tempted to raise the level of your music and narration and sound effects so you can hear them, but will find out later after you have completed your project that they may be way too hot and this will lead to garbled sound and/or Arabesk hanging up during encoding.
