I have now made several attempts to get the "true type fonts" to a DVD (CD), but without succsess. So, how is the way to do this?

I have heard of a number of people having difficulty using CD or DVD to import the True Type Fonts -- I have only used and highly recommend using a USB flash drive (also called Thumb or Jump drive). BTW - It's easier and much faster to copy fonts to a USB flashdrive for importing than burning a CD.

I have imported twice the fonts by CD but there were fonts missing from the first time and fonts that were there the second time that weren't there the first time.I thought it was that I was doing something wrong and couldn't worry about it.

PS. I just copied all the fonts as a single file to the CD instead of copying the file in total. This might help but I will try it with a USB stick sometime later.

Are all of you referring to fonts that are on a computer? It would be nice if that is the case.

Jeff,

Yes - that is the case. With Smart Edit 8/Bogart 2 you can import True Type Fonts from your computer and use them in your Casablanca titler! They must be True Type Fonts (not all fonts are -- look for the .ttf suffix in the fonts folder). See the handout referred to earlier in this thread for details.

I have them on a CD-RW, burned the file as a DATA disk and it works fine.

I have also used a flash drive for that which is easier as you just drag and drop the file while on the PC and then plug it in to access it in the Titler for import.

Question, are these True Type Fonts better quality then the fonts that come from MS. Most of them look pretty cluncky.

There are two answers I'll give here:

1) Not all fonts lend themselves well to using in video production - do some experimenting to see what looks best.

2) Some of the fonts in that come in some of the Macrosystem font packs are used in foreign countries but not here in the US. You'll certainly have a much wider choice than the basic fonts that come as part of the OS. Just open a word processor on your pc, type some text, and go to format options to see what the different fonts actually look like.

Sorry to bother you again, but I still have a problem with .ttf fonts. I am a PC-user, like driving my car (I am no PC-expert). Sometimes, when driving, I also have to stop and ask somebody where to go (as a first step) to come to the place I am going to.

So, I need to know what to do, step by step, to find those .ttf fonts on my PC, and how to import them into my USB-stick.

Thereafter I think I am able to do the rest of the job.
