Franklin,

If you mean for exporting HDV in the Finish menu you are correct that is the nature of HDV long gop editing in any editor.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Hey Tim !!! :D thank for the information !! so this is a
tipical rule about HDV editing in any other system
like FCP-VEGAS-EDIUS-PREMIER-MATROX,same situations
when you make a minimal change in your time line (others editors)
or story board like the casablanca :?: well I think next time
I will DOW-CONVERT my HD raw video to SD. ;)

Hey no PAIN no GAME....UFFFF

Franklin,
don't quite understand your problem :o
Why do you render HDV in finish menu before you don't know it will be your final product?
I always only then render when I am fully satisfied with my project.

Franklin,

For export yes, they all need to do a similar thing because the long gop format is number crunching intensive, but I will repeat Hans's question as I think you may be misunderstanding something here.

Why are you doing this in Finish.

If you are just wanting to batch render your Storyboard you no longer do it here.

The Create in the Finish menu in an HDV Project should be used strictly when you want to export HDV

Use the new button on the left hand side of the Storyboard (orange flagged beside the "i" button) in the Edit Menu to Render your full Storyboard.

This will batch render the entire Storyboard for the purposes of playing it, without having to do the very number crunching Rendering required to actually export the HDV.

I think what he may mean is when an entire wedding is finished and rendered.

Franklin may decide to make a change he is not happy with such as a transitions or a trimmed scene.

This change will result in an entire re-render of the entire project.

NORMAL but frustrating in any system.

But only at the Export stage and if you wait to "proof" your vid then you only have yourself to kick as you can render the entire Project from within the Edit menu with the new button.

You cannot be careless on proofing when working in HDV because of this severe time penalty imposed by the format at the export stage, but as mentioned, this is inherent in the format, rather than the editor.
