I have some media cards that came with a previous Cassie that is gone. One is a 16 mb and two 32 mb cards. When I try to reformat the cards the computer says it's write protected. Is the a way to reformat the cards or should I just trash them?

Some time back there was a lot of discussion on this topic. Like you, many others and myself, reformatting once the MS products have been added, is not possible.
I believe Martyn has in the past managed to reformat cards, but could only manage it using a PC with Windows 98. Unfortunately there are not many of us around using Windows 98 any more.

Re: Reformat Media Cards?
RonE, before you trash them, send them to me.
There are some cameras out there that could perform a low-level format of Smart Media cards.
And there are some card readers out there and when you combine them with a "special" software, you can format them...
Google will be your friend, I guess. Search for "smart media photo format"...
