PIP 3D

I have a map shown full frame, and want to shrink it to 60% of the frame against a background, say a solid color. Then bring out titles, one by one, that go to various places on the background. A title would come up, park at a point on the background, then a new title at a new position because the titles remain up, etc. But getting the solid color background up behind a full frame scene is the first part. This sounds like something that would involve multiple uses of the scene button. I mention PIP 3D because it seems like it would use that, but not sure. Ideas?

If it were a choice I would recommend using Columbus 2 or better yet Columbus 3 for that specific sequence. What you're asking is a fairly detailed process and I believe better conveyed via video. If you did not have Columbus 3 or even Columbus 2 - I would probably use PIP studio (not necessary to use PIP 3D) to place the map and then use either Zoom letters or another package to bring out the titles as you want, where you want (Zoom letters lets you position the starting point of your title effect). and yes this would involve a lot of Scene button usage.

I have a video manual tutorial on Columbus 2. So, the program can be used with any map, as long as its a jpg? I am thinking so, makes sense, but want to check.

Yes and No. The use of a JPEG in your scene bin will limit the zoom capability of that map due to the file size. That is where BIG MAPS and XXL MAPS really shine. One can 'zoom' into, let's say a state capitol, 'zoom' ALL the way out and continue with a pre-determined route w/o resolution loss.
