SDHC Compatilitiby

Post by culchie1 »

I have Transcend 64 gb cards. I use the Canon XA10 and convert from HD to SD in camera.
I have Bigart v3.4 but it doesn't seem to be able to read the cards. Anyone got any suggestions. Thank you.

I transfer from HD to SD in the XA10
Then I go to the Record window ,it will tell me there is a Generic device but it won't read it.
I have the same problem when I go through the Media Manager.
It will recognize the device but will nor read it. I am on v 3.4 at the moment. Thank you.

By device do you mean a USB cable connected to the camera, then to your BOGART OS? OR USB cable connected to a card reader then to your BOGART?

OK....the good news is that the downconverts work with the camera. They are transferred to CARD B.

The bad news is, I can only observe the downconverts as a 4:3 no matter what I do. I am setting the project to SD-16:9. The setting is reading the SD MPEGS as 4:3. My camera does not nor my home PC.

Thanks veryu much for the reply.
I am very dissapointed with the Bogart.
It is not up to working in HD at all and the fact that it won't read the card is a bit of a mess.
I am afraid that Bogart is very much a second rate editing system, and as I talk to other people about other editing systems, I am lead to believe that we are about 2 years behind with this system.
Maybe I am totally wrong but for the moment I cannot see how Bogart is any good for editing AVCHD files.
This week I am going to meet the person who has another editing system.
He was shocked last night when I told him of my tale of woe with the Bogart.
I'll post again in a few days when I see it and see how it works with AVCHD for both uploading and editing.
Thanks for all the help.

I guess you know by now, that you can use BOGART 4 to downconvert your HD material and not rely on the camera. I am not impressed by my CANON cameras downconverts @ 9Mps using the camera.
Also, in your case, either the card reader or camera is not recognized. Make sure you have the proper software updated.

To be honest, ARABESK 5 downconverts are said to be fine......just waiting for the release.

With that said, did you know that FINAL CUT X does NOT read the simple files from Canon or SONY XDCAM (.mxf files) but Bogart does. Bogart can also import all types of HD material without a "dog and pony show" using all types of codecs Very few editing systems can do this. Most of the files have to be converted to be used. See this workflow OUCH!!!: http://houghtonmultimedia.com/2011/07/c ... with-fcpx/

I have three AVCHD cameras......................AVCHD files are PERFECT in BOGART. In BOGART 4, we even have the option to adjust the importation as it relates to color saturation and audio etc. etc. "on the fly." PLUS, we can now render out these AVCHD files to a universal AVI codec in less than REAL TIME-depending on motion.

No operating system is perfect and they all have faults. To call this system "second rate" does not do the new BOGART4 justice. Two days ago, my buddy, a Final Cut user, was in AWE, as he observed me mixing CODECS into ONE project. He has to convert his material to PRO RES and other CODECS have to be converted as well-time consuming.

BTW: The new FINAL CUT X does not even recognize .MXF files, which are being used in the industry currently and for the past few years-SONY EX-1R as well as the new CANON XF series .MXF file. BOGART does work well with these CODECS.

I too can testify that Bogart 3 and 4 can handle file based formats very well.

I own the Sony PMW-EX1 which utilizes the MPEG -2 format (mp4 wrapper) and imports into Bogart via USB very fast and seemless. FCP and other systems has to convert to .mov or other file formats before you can edit. Bogart (Linux based) is very stable and just keeps getting better and better regarding compatibility, stability, and operation.

Hi there thank you all for the replys.
Out of sheer frustration I up loaded from the camera diectly in HD to the Bogart.
Even that turned out to be a big big mess.
The Audio was completely out of sync with the Video.
In fact all the audio uploaded but a lot of the video was missing.
I've ourchased V4 to see waht will happen
I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I am still extremely dissappointed that all of this has happened,
I've used Casablanca Systems for the past 6 years.
I've no great desire to go with any other system but if I cannot get this to work easily...what should I do?
Once again thnk you all for taking the time to reply to my tale of woe.
