Does anyone know the file size or dimensions of a Jpeg that Photo Studio 2 requires? I have a disc of 91 Jpeg images that a client gave to me and Photo Studio 2 only reads 73 of them. the files it does not read seem to be smaller, less than 200k but the curious thing is that most of them are oriented portrait style rather than landscape. AKA they are photos taken with the camera tilted to one side. All the photos were scanned in at 300dpi which is smaller than I would usually use but like I said the disc was given to me. I have uploaded images that were smaller than 100k before and though they don't look great at least Photo Studio 2 sees them. Please help!
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Photo Studio 2 not reading some Jpegs
Not sure what to suggest, but here are some ideas to try.
1. Look at the disk files with a PC or Mac. Check to see that they all have a .jpg ending. If any have a slightly different ending and those are the files that will not load then rename them with the .jpg ending on the name. Some so called .jpg files have a different ending and I found that by renameing them my system S4100 with Bogart 4.1c would then recognize them.
2. Try copying the files from the disc with a PC or Mac and puting them on a "thumb drive" then input them from it in place of the choice for a disc.
3. Try to import them with the Media Manager.
4. Re start your system and/or move to a different project and see if it will then read the disc. Sometimes this works.
Hope these ideas help.

Re: Photo Studio 2 not reading some Jpegs
I think the minimum resolution for compatible photos with Photo Studio is 300 dpi. The theory is anything less cannot be manipulated without unacceptable degradation so the code writers simply made any less resolution non-compatible. You can "fix" this with just about any PC or Mac photo program to make the photo acceptable to PS although it still is limited by the general garbage in/garbage out rule.
Also, a photo must be scanned in color to be compatible even if it is a black and white. Unfortunately, most people have their scan set to auto and so if the photo is a black and white the scanner scans it in black and white and then it is not compatible with PS.
Lastly, some PC photo editing programs leave their own mark on a JPEG (Photo Shop is one) that will make the file uncompatible.

Thanks to Gordon and Tim. I will try your suggestions and re post if I have any success. I did already try to upload them with Photo transfer with a USB with no luck. I also tried uploading them on the solitaire which was just wiped and cleanly installed with SE 9.1. Also no luck but I'll keep hammering at it.

Photo Transfer doesn't have the low rez limit so your problem is more likely the scanned as black and white thing.

Re: Photo Studio 2 not reading some Jpegs
Gordon, Media Mgr imported the photos from a disc but would not read them on the thumbdrive. So at least the problem is solved but I'd still like to know why PS 2 would not work with them. The photos are now just in the scene bin so I won't be able to animate them using PS 2 but at least I have them.
Thanks again for the suggestions.

Ian Pearson, a regular poster to this forum, posted an answer to this question some time back. I used the search box and words like minimum jpeg dimensions.
