can it see a wav?

Post by videojim »

I have never been able to introduce a WAV file to either of my Cassie machines. I had a Ren+ for a few years, and it never recognized a WAV file when introduced via disk. Same with the S6000. Is there anybody who has been able to get their Cassie to see a non-compressed audio file? I already knew it needed jpg's, not bmp or TIFF, so it makes me wonder how it can see an AVI? According to Chet, AVI's have varying amounts of compression applied, so that must be the reason. The point is, can a Cassie recognize a file (audio, still or video) if it has NO compression applied to it? When I shoot stills for video, I usually shoot RAW, so the converted jpg is big enough to work with.

Not sure what you mean by "introduce". Do you mean "rip" a WAV file?

To introduce a file is to have it present on a CD, flash stick or any other input, and have the device recognize that it is there. I have put WAV files in on a stick, and the machine never notices that there is a file present. It will see the mp3, but never the wav, so I am convinced it always wants a file to be compressed.

I import WAV files all the time without issue. I have been doing so since the introduction of Bogart.
It can be done via media manager or now with Bogart direct/audio import.

Will have to try that, Joel. Don't have much to do with the MM, its like a black box to me.. Will have to have a look at Chet's tutorial, which he just did. Will check it out first. Thanks!
