Hello,
Does anybody have experience using the JVC HD GZ 7 and importing video into a S-4100? I just ordered a S-4100 and wanted to make sure I can import FHD video into the Casablanca.
Thanks
Mike

Do you think it will work with a HDMI plug from camera to S-4100? Have you tried that with your JVC before?

.MOD files have been reported as not being recognized. However, it is SO easy to convert these files first on you PC and then import. So that is not a problem. There is much free and pay software to accomplish this particular task.
HDMI is for output only to display on a HDTV. Black Magic Design is the only card I am aware of (though there is probably others) that allow direct HDMI inputting to a PC.
Our units either USB or Firewire for HD-like almost every other software program.

Re: Jvc Everio HD GZ 7
My JVC gives me a .TOD file (MPEG Transport Stream) and was really hoping when I get my Casablanca that I wouldnt have to use my iMac to transcode the files. I will try when I receive my S-4100 in 2 weeks and let you know what I had to do.
Thanks for your help.

Mike,
I once had a JVC Everio camera on my desk.
You could set up the camera to record in an HDV-compatible mode (1440x1080) or in Full HD.
If you wisely had chosen to record in 1440x1080, you could create a playlist by means of an editor in the camera's software. And that playlist could be output via Firewire to any HD-capable Casablanca system.
For Full HD refer to Lou's conversion method.
By the way the handling of the camera's menus was not very intuitive, if I remember correctly.
Have a good weekend!

Jvc is a mess with codecs...yes...MOD and TOD and MOF etc.
Try this with your MAC: http://www.ehow.com/how_5679686_convert ... ac-os.html
ALSO....when Bogart 3.1 etc. is released, it is my understanding that .MP4 files can be imported w/o a problem. That is an easier and simple conversion on the MAC. Bogart 3.0 etc. will allow many codecs that will not have to be transcoded unlike FCP. No Cineform etc.
